June 25, 2009

Massachusetts Lt. Governor Timothy Murray on Wednesday toured Harvard labs in both Cambridge and Boston.

"The Patrick Administration has been very supportive of the university research sector in Massachusetts and we welcomed the opportunity to show him the range of projects ongoing at Harvard, in both Cambridge and Longwood, that are cutting-edge, multidisciplinary and often involve collaboration with partners from other institutions, including the University of Massachusetts, and industry," Casey said.

In Cambridge, Murray met with Harvard Stem Cell Institute Principal Faculty Member Kevin Eggan and toured Eggan's lab. He then went to the Geological Visualization Laboratory for a meeting with John Shaw, the Harry C. Dudley Professor of Structural and Economic Geology.

On the Boston side of the river, the Lt. Governor met with Harvard Medical School Dean Jeffrey Flier, and then toured laboratories in the HMS Department of Systems Biology, where he met with professor Roy Kishony, and the Department of Neurobiology , where he met with Bernardo Sabatini.
