Division of Cardiology

Members of the Cardiovascular Division pursue a wide variety of research, ranging from basic investigations on the biology of atherogenesis to the development of thrombolytic therapy for patients with acute myocardial infarction. Major areas of clinical and basic research interest among the faculty include: hemodynamics, signal transduction and excitation-contraction coupling in cardiac and vascular myocytes, cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure, interventional cardiology, lipids and atherosclerosis, cardiomyopathy and myocarditis, thrombolysis in myocardial ischemic syndrome, thrombosis and vascular biology, molecular and cellular cardiology, aging and cardiovascular homeostasis, clinical epidemiology and biostatistics (including the Framingham Heart Study), clinical trials design and management, echocardiography and non-invasive imaging, electrophysiology, exercise physiology/nuclear medicine, and magnetic resonance imaging.Affiliation: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
